Springtime beers that can raise a corpse

Yes, it’s been a while.  Quit bitching about it.

Moving along, I would like to touch upon just a couple of beers that seem to resonate with this time of year.  Namely, Trappist Ales.

Why Trappist Ales?  Simple, they are the same beers I would recommend to people in the fall when the air has a bit of a chill.  However in the fall, these beers are welcoming the cold weather, while in the spring, they are the last farewell prior to the warm weather.  Many don’t typically consider this type of symmetry with their drink, however I think it not only fits the palette, but also, in terms of Zombie Jeebus day, there is a religious connotation to them as well.

So let’s start with something that is neither Trappist, nor warm and spicy.  Duvel.  Which translated means devil.  Some may think I’m merely being a jackass with this recommendation, but this is a Belgian Golden Ale that clocks in at 9%abv and will certainly warm your soul.  It’s crisp on the palette and extremely satisfying.  I’m not going to bore you with the high notes and undertones of the beer, let’s suffice to say, this is a beer that wonderfully bids farewell to cold weather while at the same time is welcoming spring.

Next, I would like to talk about Trappist Rochefort 8.  Why number 8 and not 10?  Simple, again, we are bidding adieu to the cold weather and welcoming the warm, and number 8 is a fantastically balanced triple, and you don’t have to take my word for it, Beeradvocate rates the beer an A+ and of the current 1400+ votes by the community it is rated an A.

That’s it, short and sweet.  Two world class beers for Zombie Jeebus day.  So you can drink with the Duvel, or drink with the monks.  Either way you will not be disappointed.

PS:
For the love of all that is holy don’t chug these beers, you’ll be wishing you were with Jeebus if you do.
